Perth Removalists Cost Guide 2026: Real Rates by Home Size, Suburb & Access

Most Perth removalist pricing guides give you a number and move on. "$110 to $180 per hour" tells you almost nothing useful when you are trying to work out whether your upcoming move is going to cost $400 or $1,600.

The truth is that two moves that look identical on paper can end up at completely different prices. A 2-bedroom apartment in Subiaco on the third floor with no lift is a very different job to a 2-bedroom unit in Canning Vale on the ground floor with street parking right out front. Same bedroom count. Different everything else.

This guide gives you the actual numbers we work with at NP Movers, broken down by home size, access type, and suburb, plus three real jobs we have done recently so you can see how those numbers translate into a final invoice.

What Perth Removalists Charge in 2026

At NP Movers, local Perth moves start from $120 per hour for a 2-man crew with a truck. Most standard jobs sit between $130 and $180 per hour depending on crew size and vehicle requirements.

That hourly rate covers the time the crew is on your job: wrapping furniture, loading, driving, unloading, and placement. It does not include call-out fees (more on those below) or specialist services like piano moves or professional packing.

A few things that move the needle on your rate:

Crew size

A 2-man crew is standard for apartments and small to medium homes. Larger homes or tight timelines often need 3 men, which pushes the hourly rate up to roughly $175 to $220 depending on the job.

Day of the week

Weekday moves (Monday to Thursday) are cheaper. Fridays see more demand and Saturdays even more. If you can be flexible, mid-week will save you 15 to 20% compared to a weekend slot.

Time of year

December through February is peak moving season in Perth. Everyone is ending leases, starting new ones, or settling into homes they bought over summer. Demand is high and availability is tighter. Moving between April and September is generally easier to book and often cheaper.

Real Costs by Home Size (With Access Scenarios)

This is where most guides fall short. A bedroom count is a starting point, not a price. Here is how we actually think about it.

1-Bedroom Apartment

Easy access (ground floor, parking right outside): 2-man crew. Most jobs take 2 to 3 hours. Total cost typically lands between $240 and $390.

Third floor, no lift, 80-metre walk from truck: The same apartment with difficult access can take 3.5 to 5 hours. The physical demand is higher and the pace is slower through stairwells. Budget $420 to $650 for this scenario.

The difference between these two jobs is not the furniture. It is the building.

2-Bedroom Apartment or Unit

Ground floor with good access: 2-man crew. Average job time is 3 to 4 hours. Expect $360 to $520 in total.

Second or third floor, narrow stairwell, limited parking: Add an hour or more to the job time. Tightly wound stairwells slow everything down because you cannot tilt larger furniture the way you can in open space. Total cost more commonly sits at $480 to $720.

Inner-city high-density building (Perth CBD, West Perth, Subiaco high-rises): These jobs often involve booking a lift for a time window, strict building rules, and parking in a loading bay that may be shared. All of that adds coordination time and sometimes waiting time. Budget accordingly, often 20% higher than a comparable suburban job.

3-Bedroom House

Standard suburban house, driveway access, single storey: This is the most common job we do. A 2 to 3-man crew working 4 to 6 hours. Total costs typically range from $600 to $1,080.

Two-storey home or home with long carry distance: A second storey means the crew is doing stairs for every heavy item. Long driveways, retaining wall steps, or a back house that trucks cannot get near all push time up. Budget $780 to $1,200 for these properties.

3-bedroom unit in a complex with shared access: Body corporate rules, tight shared driveways, and limited hours of access are common in strata complexes. This adds planning overhead and sometimes means a smaller truck, which requires more loads. Jobs here often take an additional hour compared to a freestanding home.

4-Bedroom Family Home

Single-storey suburban home, good access: This is typically a 3-man crew job taking 6 to 9 hours. Total costs usually sit between $900 and $1,620.

Large home, multiple access challenges, specialist items: If you have a piano, a large shed to clear, or items going into storage separate to the main delivery address, this is where the job can extend to 10 or more hours. Jobs like this are best quoted specifically rather than estimated from a range.

How Perth Suburbs Affect Your Moving Cost

Location affects cost in two ways: where your current property is, and how far the new one is from it.

Travel fees

Most Perth removalists, including us, charge a call-out fee equivalent to 30 to 60 minutes of travel time. This covers getting the truck to your origin and returning after the job. A move entirely within the northern suburbs (say, Joondalup to Wanneroo) has minimal travel overhead. A move from Fremantle to Ellenbrook adds significantly more.

Suburb-specific access challenges

Some suburbs consistently create access issues that are worth knowing about before you book.

Fremantle: Heritage streetscapes mean narrow roads and limited truck parking near many properties. Moving into or out of an older Fremantle terrace often adds 30 to 45 minutes compared to a newer suburban property of the same size.

Perth CBD and West Perth: High-rise apartments require lift bookings, loading bay coordination, and sometimes a waiting period if another tenant has the lift. Building managers vary widely in how helpful they are on moving day.

Canning Vale, Baldivis, Ellenbrook: These outer suburbs have newer housing stock with good driveway access and wide streets. Trucks can usually park close to the front door. Access is rarely an issue. The main cost factor here is distance from the city for call-out travel.

Midland and surrounds: A mix of older and newer properties. Worth noting that the Great Eastern Highway corridor has some industrial and heritage zones with narrower access.

Joondalup: Generally straightforward access. The suburb is well-planned and most homes have standard driveways. Common for efficient moves.

Three Real NP Movers Jobs

These are anonymised jobs from our recent bookings. Crew sizes, hours, and final costs are real.

Job 1: Small Apartment Move, Scarborough to Osborne Park

The job: 1-bedroom apartment. Origin was a second-floor unit with stair access only (no lift). Destination was a ground-floor unit with parking directly outside.

What made it interesting: The stairwell at the origin was tight and had a corner mid-flight that made the couch a proper puzzle. We had to stand it vertically and shuffle it around the corner slowly. Added about 25 minutes to the loading time compared to a ground-floor equivalent.

Crew: 2 men Hours on job: 3.5 hours Total cost: $455

Job 2: Medium Family Home, Rockingham

The job: 3-bedroom house, single storey, well-maintained home on a standard suburban block. Driveway access was good. The client also had a double garage worth of tools, garden equipment, and boxes.

What made it interesting: The volume was more than a typical 3-bedroom. The garage alone took an extra 45 minutes to clear. The client had done solid pre-packing which kept things moving smoothly at the destination.

Crew: 3 men Hours on job: 7 hours Total cost: $1,050

Job 3: Large Home Relocation with Specialist Items, Subiaco to Karrinyup

The job: 4-bedroom two-storey home. The family had a grand piano, a large marble dining table, and a full home office worth of equipment. Origin property had a long side-access corridor that limited how furniture could come out of the house.

What made it interesting: The piano required specialist handling. We had to plan the exit path in advance and use a piano board for the transit between the house and the truck. The marble table top came off the base and was wrapped and transported flat. The side corridor access at origin added roughly 40 minutes across the full job compared to a property with standard front-door access.

Crew: 3 men plus specialist piano handling Hours on job: 9.5 hours Specialist item surcharge (piano): $350 Total cost: $1,955

What Is Typically Included in a Perth Removalist Quote

This varies between companies, so always check. At NP Movers, every job includes:

  • Transit coverage

What costs extra:

  • Professional packing (typically $75 to $80 per hour per packer)
  • Specialist item handling such as pianos or pool tables
  • Packing materials if you need boxes or tape supplied
  • Storage if items need to go into a facility between properties

A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Book

Get a quote based on your actual job, not a generic estimate

The ranges in this guide are real, but your move has specific details that shift where you land in those ranges. Stair access, a long carry distance, a large shed, an awkward corner — any of these affect the time and therefore the cost.

Ask what the call-out or travel fee looks like

Most Perth removalists include this. At NP Movers we are upfront about it in every quote so there are no surprises on the invoice.

Timing flexibility saves money

If you can move on a Tuesday or Wednesday rather than a Saturday, you are likely looking at a more competitive rate and easier availability. December to February is the hardest time to get the date you want.

Access at both ends matters

People often think about the house they are leaving but forget to consider the property they are moving into. If the new place has tricky access, mention that when you get your quote.
